Priyanka demands removal of legal safeguards for EC

Malappuram: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has called for the removal of legal protections for the Election Commissioner, accusing the BJP government of shielding the poll panel from accountability. She also urged the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, stating that the INDIA bloc is united in demanding his removal.

Vadra argued that the safeguards, instituted by the BJP to protect the Commissioner, should be eliminated. She emphasized that those committing illegal acts against the nation, Constitution, and India should be held accountable for their criminal actions, describing it as treason. Vadra suggested that if an Election Commissioner is engaging in such grave crimes against democracy, their actions are likely backed by the party leadership.

She demanded that Gyanesh Kumar step down and face consequences for his alleged involvement in unlawful activities.
