Presidents Cup capsule summaries of matches

Medinah, Ill. (AP) — Capsules of Presidents Cup matches at Medinah on Saturday:

Min Woo Lee and Sungjae Im tied with Justin Thomas and Jackson Koivun, United States. Koivun made a crucial 25-foot birdie on No. 8 and nailed a 2-foot approach on No. 11, putting the Americans ahead 2-1 in a match they dominated early on. However, Lee equalized with a 15-foot birdie on the 15th, and both sides finished tied after the round.

Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim, International, won against Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark, 2-1. Morikawa took the lead with a 20-foot birdie on the par-3 seventh. Kim and Kim responded with birdies of their own on the 11th and 12th holes, giving the Internationals the first lead. Si Woo Kim added another birdie on the 16th, and Morikawa missed a short putt, securing the win for the Internationals.

Chris Gotterup and Cameron Young, United States, defeated Corey Conners and Nick Taylor, International, 2-1. Young and Young started strong, with Young birdieing the second and driving the par-4 fourth green, then making an impressive 30-foot eagle putt. The Canadians fought back, tying the match at two holes around the turn. Gotterup then took control, making a 50-foot birdie on the 14th and sealing the victory with a 35-foot birdie on the 15th.

Taylor fought back with a 30-foot birdie on the 16th, but Gotterup closed out the match with a birdie from just off the 17th green.

Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns, United States, outlasted Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Hisatsune, International, 2-1. While neither side led the front nine, Matsuyama and Hisatsune took the lead with birdies on the 10th and 13th holes. Scheffler struggled early but came alive on the back nine, making a crucial 20-foot birdie on the 15th hole to tie the match. Burns responded with a birdie on the 16th and secured the win with a birdie on the 17th.
