President Donald Trump draws cheers in appearance at Texas-Tennessee football game

President Donald Trump made a scheduled appearance at the highly anticipated college football matchup between No. 1 Texas and No. 14 Tennessee on Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. Following a TV commercial break, the President was introduced to the cheering crowd and his image was displayed on the jumbotron and on ABC's live broadcast.

Applause erupted in the state he won in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 presidential elections. Trump was also cheered as he appeared on the video board prior to kickoff. Accompanying him in a suite were Tennessee's Republican senators, Marsha Blackburn and Bill Haggerty. Last week, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth attended a Texas A&M game against Kentucky, receiving cheers pregame but more hostile reactions later as the Aggies fell behind and ultimately lost.

Trump's attendance at college football games is not uncommon; he previously attended the 2024 Alabama-Georgia game, last year's national championship in Miami Gardens, the NBA Finals, as well as the World Cup Final and multiple UFC and LIV Golf events.
