Osun Amotekun reunites wandering woman, children with family

The Osun Amotekun Corps has successfully reunited a woman and her two young children, who had been wandering along the Gbongan-Ibadan road in Ogii town, with their family. This reunion occurred less than 24 hours after the story was reported by DAILY POST, following the corps' night patrol on Thursday. According to a statement from the Osun Amotekun spokesperson, CSA Yusuf Idowu Abass, the woman and her children - aged around three and one year respectively - were found wandering late at night.

They were taken to the Osun Amotekun headquarters in Osogbo for care, while officers worked to identify the woman and locate her relatives. The woman initially didn't speak, communicating only unclear words; she was later referred to the Amotekun desk of the Gender, Family and People with Disabilities Unit for further investigation.

Through limited information provided by the woman, the investigation led to the tracing of her family in Ede. Her husband, Olawale Muideen, was out of town at the time and was represented by his brother, Mutiu Sodiq, and their son, Muideen Aliyullah, who identified the woman. Sodiq, speaking at the reunion, expressed gratitude to the Osun Amotekun operatives for rescuing the woman and her children and ensuring their safe return.

He also praised the Corps for its humane treatment of the woman and her children during their stay at the headquarters. Corps Commander Adekunle Isaac Omoyele commended the public and media for supporting efforts to disseminate information about the rescued woman, emphasizing the Corps' mandate to protect lives and property. He urged families to promptly report missing relatives to law enforcement authorities.

The Field Commander, Dr Olusoji Benedict Akanni, noted the identification and location of the woman's family within 24 hours as a significant outcome, highlighting the Corps' careful work with the limited information obtained. The Osun Amotekun Corps has since returned the woman and her two children to their family after completing its investigation.
