Onaway football nabs second straight win, rolls past Bellaire at home

Onaway's football team secured a resounding 52-12 victory over Bellaire in a home game on September 25, marking their second consecutive win of the 8-player season. Following a strong performance against Forest Area in the previous week, the Cardinals entered the match with optimism, but Bellaire's strong start took an early lead.

However, the Cardinals quickly responded with a 40-yard touchdown run from sophomore quarterback Chris Pauly, followed by a successful two-point conversion to tie the game at 8-8. Onaway's senior Phineas Benson executed an onside kick, leading to a 20-yard touchdown run from senior Kayson Jarvis that extended the Cardinals' lead to 16-6.

Junior Jackson Green then scored a 5-yard touchdown, solidifying a commanding 24-6 lead by the end of the first quarter. Defensively, Onaway proved tough to break through, allowing only one touchdown from Bellaire's Corperryale Somers. Despite the early struggles, the Onaway coaching staff expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, highlighting improvements in blocking and overall offensive execution.

With the momentum gained from this win, Onaway is poised to face Cedarville in a homecoming game on October 2.
