Ngumoha not in England squad to face Spain

Liverpool's 18-year-old forward Rio Ngumoha will not feature in England's matchday squad for their Nations League opener against Spain at Wembley on Saturday. England manager Thomas Tuchel had initially included Ngumoha in the full squad earlier this month, but he will be absent from the match against the reigning world and European champions.

Ngumoha was part of the five supplementary players who traveled with the England senior squad to their pre-World Cup training camp in Florida during the summer. He made his debut for England in a 1-0 friendly win against New Zealand, impressing in a second-half appearance and becoming the fifth youngest player to represent the Three Lions.

Ngumoha's rapid rise began when he became the youngest player in Liverpool's history to start a first-team match at the age of 16 during the 2024-25 season. He made his Premier League debut by scoring a late winner in Liverpool's 3-2 victory at Newcastle last season and has played three league matches for the Reds this season, starting only once.
