New Google Pixel Update is Locking People Out of Phones

Google's September Pixel update introduced several enhancements, such as improved VIP contacts widget, enhanced scam detection, and the Pause Point feature for older models. However, the update has also triggered a serious issue on some Pixel devices, causing users to be locked out of their phones. A Pixel 10 Pro XL user reported being unable to complete the pattern lock as the screen reset before they could connect even the second dot.

This issue was not limited to the Pixel 10 Pro XL or pattern locks, as a Pixel 8a user encountered a "wrong PIN" error immediately after entering the first digit. Another user faced the same problem on a Pixel 8 Pro. The lock screen appears to be accepting input before users have finished their entry, which could lead to repeated failed attempts temporarily locking users out of their phones for several minutes.

Google's PixelCommunity support account has been informed of the issues and is assisting affected users. However, older Pixel devices have also reported becoming laggy after the September update, suggesting a possible software bug that needs addressing. Users who have not yet updated to the latest version may want to wait for a fixed version to be released.
