New allegations emerge against rape-accused top cop Shadrack Sibiya

New allegations have surfaced against former top police officer Shadrack Sibiya, according to sources familiar with the matter. Reports indicate that Sibiya allegedly exchanged sexually explicit messages with a minor, the daughter of a close friend. The girl's father reportedly became suspicious after intercepting the communication and took measures to continue covertly communicating with Sibiya, posing as his daughter.

This communication is part of a criminal complaint against Sibiya, filed at the Sandton police station. Sibiya and the complainant have a long-standing relationship, close enough for Sibiya to purchase a vehicle from him. However, tensions reportedly arose following a dispute involving a woman whose services were arranged by the complainant.

Sources allege that Sibiya received sexual services from one of the women but refused to pay the agreed fee, leading to the breakdown of their relationship. The second complainant in the case is also believed to be the woman in question. The allegations involving the minor are distinct from the dispute over the alleged non-payment for sexual services, both being part of the ongoing investigation into Sibiya.

Sibiya was arrested on September 21, 2026, by the South African Police Service’s Commissions Recommendations Task Team (CRTT), accused of sexual offenses including the grooming of a 16-year-old girl and the rape of an 18-year-old woman. He is expected to appear before Randburg Magistrates’ Court on September 22, 2026. SAPS Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane condemned the alleged conduct, emphasizing that police officers have a responsibility to protect women and children and that rank should not exempt anyone from accountability.
