'My ears were ringing': Fierce storm leaves trail of damage in Damansara Damai

Pangsapuri Saujana resident Mazlan Ismail, 59, recounted the terrifying experience of a storm that struck Damansara Damai yesterday, leaving his car damaged when a tree branch fell on it. The resident expressed that the ringing in his ears was a direct result of the powerful winds and thunder that accompanied the storm. He recounted that the storm began after a brief period of calm weather, with the sky darkening rapidly and strong winds sweeping through the area.

Upon the storm's subsidence, Mazlan swiftly moved to the parking area and discovered the extensive damage to his vehicle.

This was the second time in three years that the area had encountered such a powerful storm, according to Mazlan. He voiced his concern over the damage to the trees along the roadside, attributing the issue to inadequate regular maintenance. The situation in nearby Pangsapuri Impian was reportedly worse, with several residents' vehicles also damaged by fallen trees.

One resident, Rafizan Ramli, 40, from Pangsapuri Suria, blamed the dense and poorly maintained trees for the catastrophic aftermath of the storm. He emphasized the urgent need for authorities to act swiftly and trim the dangerous trees before another calamity occurs, potentially resulting in loss of life. Rafizan also noted that fallen trees had obstructed several major roads, leading to severe traffic congestion.

Although help eventually arrived, responders faced challenges finding accessible routes. However, both Rafizan and Mazlan expressed gratitude for the prompt response of the Civil Defence Force, Fire and Rescue Department, and local authorities in clearing debris and restoring normalcy to the area.
