Muturi calls for IEBC probe into Murkomen’s Uganda voter registration claims

Democratic Party leader JB Muturi has called on Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to provide clarification regarding remarks allegedly made about voter registration activities in Uganda in relation to Kenya's electoral process. Muturi emphasized that the claims were serious and could potentially raise concerns about Kenya's sovereignty and the impartiality of the country's electoral process.

In a statement, Muturi asked Murkomen, as a top Cabinet Secretary, to explain whether he had knowledge of any voter registration activities in Uganda linked to Kenya's elections. He urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to summon Murkomen and request a detailed explanation of his remarks, as well as identification of any alleged activities.

Muturi stated that if there were credible evidence of unlawful voter registration or foreign interference in Kenya's electoral process, it must be investigated, and those responsible held accountable in accordance with the law. He described the claims as a matter of grave national concern and argued that allegations involving the electoral process should not be taken lightly or dismissed without proper scrutiny.

Muturi emphasized that Kenya's sovereignty is not negotiable and that its elections cannot be compromised. He called on the IEBC to act decisively and ensure transparency and accountability in addressing the matter.
