Ministers call for specialised police training to curb crime

In response to the increasing crime rates, State Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy emphasized the necessity of special training for law enforcement officers. Reddy attended the Dikshant Parade, the passing-out ceremony for 176 new Stipendiary Cadet Trainee Police Constables (SCTPCs) at the District Police Training Centre (DPTC) in Chemudugunta, SPSR Nellore district.

He addressed the graduates, noting that while traditional constable positions once required only a Class X qualification, today many recruits possess higher degrees and expertise. Reddy highlighted the significance of police roles, explaining that their duties extend beyond security to include public service. The minister praised the training provided in areas such as physical fitness, technical skills, legal knowledge, and cybercrime prevention.

He urged the trainees to maintain their fitness throughout their careers, which could span over three decades. Meanwhile, State Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar joined as chief guest at a similar parade in Ongole. He encouraged the new graduates to continue learning and improving their investigative techniques. Both ministers stressed the importance of integrity, discipline, and public service in the officers' duties.

The training batches comprised a diverse group of graduates, including 16 post-graduates, 34 B.Tech holders, 121 degree holders, and 19 intermediate-qualified individuals. Reddy expressed optimism that these highly qualified individuals would excel in their careers and contribute significantly to the police force.
