Madani Mart’s master licensing push could fuel 300 outlets, says Fuziah

KAJANG, Sept 26 — Madani Mart is set to open master licensing applications for companies, investors, and strategic partners with the financial and operational capabilities needed to rapidly grow its retail network across the nation, according to Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh. Each licensee granted by Yayasan Madani can develop and operate up to 100 Madani Mart outlets per location, contingent on meeting specific terms and standards.

Currently, the priority is given to three master licensees, which could result in the opening of approximately 300 outlets nationwide, according to Fuziah.

Fuziah, who chairs Yayasan Madani, announced that the appointment of master licensees and branch development rights will be awarded in phases, dependent on their capabilities, performance, and adherence to Yayasan Madani’s conditions. The expansion model will commence once Yayasan Madani confirms the stability of supply chain and pricing for the network's 5,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs).

To support this expansion, Yayasan Madani is negotiating with commercial and government-owned banks to secure financing facilities up to RM50 million if necessary.

Madani Mart’s master licensing model aims to expedite its nationwide expansion, while still maintaining opportunities for individual entrepreneurs to join the network. Fuziah emphasized that the ministry intends to have at least one Madani Mart branch in each state legislative assembly constituency. Additionally, the latest Madani Mart branch in Taman Sutera introduces a fresh grocery segment, featuring fish, vegetables, and bulk sales for non-specialized items, providing small traders, food operators, and stall owners with access to competitive pricing for larger quantities.

Currently, Madani Mart operates two outlets in Kuantan, Pahang, before the recent opening of its first branch in Klang Valley. As a strategic partner of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) in executing the Rahmah Madani Sales Programme (PJRM), every Madani Mart outlet hosts a Rahmah Sale each month and provides payment system facilities for the Rahmah Basic Contribution (SARA) program.
