Liverpool need to look at elite midfielder nobody is chasing

Liverpool’s midfield is in urgent need of some fresh talent, and January could be the perfect time to acquire one. After allowing Curtis Jones to leave the club last summer without immediately signing a replacement, Anfield’s recruitment team will likely have a long list of potential targets in mind. While several high-profile midfielders have been linked with Merseyside, one player who is yet to receive significant interest is Anton Stach, a Premier League midfielder flying under the radar.

Stach, currently playing for Leeds United, has been quietly establishing himself as one of the most effective midfielders in the top flight. His aerial ability, dead-ball specialties, and striking from distance have put him on par with the best in the division. Despite his impressive statistics, there are two significant drawbacks to consider.

Firstly, at 27 years old, Stach is older than the profile Liverpool typically targets for new signings. Secondly, whilst he leads the league in other key areas, his short passing may not be up to par with his other qualities. However, despite these drawbacks, Stach's value is still relatively low at €19.7 million (~£17m). A potential January move from Leeds could represent minimal risk for Liverpool, and given the addition of Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz to the squad, Stach's passing weaknesses might not pose as much of an issue.
