The Philadelphia Eagles may be facing a significant injury challenge for their upcoming Monday night game against the Chicago Bears on September 28. Tight end Dallas Goedert, the team's only true receiving tight end on the 53-man roster, is expected to miss 2-4 games after spraining his MCL during a September 20 game against the Tennessee Titans.

With Goedert potentially sidelined, veteran tight end Zach Ertz is a strong candidate to take his place at the position. Ertz, who has 825 career receptions during his 13-season career, would be returning to the Eagles after spending five years with the Arizona Cardinals. In addition to Ertz, safety Kenny Moore, who was signed to the Eagles' practice squad in September, could also see playing time for the first time in five years.

Both Ertz and Moore would need to go through a crash course of practice and game experience to be ready for the Bears game, as neither has practiced or played in an NFL game since the end of the 2025 season. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni indicated that the team would assess the readiness of Ertz and Moore based on their movement, feelings after practice, and learning the system.

Meanwhile, wide receiver DeVonta Smith has missed practice sessions on September 24 and 25 with a hamstring injury, but his status for the Bears game remains uncertain as the Eagles have not released their final injury report.
