Lalbaugcha Raja immersion: Mumbai bids farewell as iconic Ganesh idol leaves for visarjan

On Saturday morning at around 10:45 am, the iconic Ganpati idol known as Lalbaugcha Raja was immersed in the Arabian Sea at Girgaon Chowpatty, marking the end of the annual Ganeshotsav festivities. The 10-foot-tall clay idol, which had made its way through the bustling streets of Mumbai over the previous day, had been moving through the city since the night before, drawing thousands of devotees who gathered along the shoreline for a final glimpse of the deity.

As the idol was taken into the sea, devotees chanted "Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudcha Varshi Lavkar Ya," a traditional exclamation wishing for the deity's return in the coming year.

In all, 25,513 Ganesh idols were immersed during the 11th day of Ganeshotsav, with 2,398 of them being large public idols and the remaining 22,565 smaller household idols. Additionally, 550 Gauri idols were also immersed during the ceremony. However, despite the large crowds and the grandeur of the immersion process, authorities reported that there were no incidents of violence or disruption during the event.
