Lagos school alumni honours IG with lifetime achievement award

In a grand ceremony in Lagos, the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association bestowed upon the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, a Lifetime Achievement Award on Saturday. The award honored Disu’s extensive career spanning three decades with the Nigeria Police Force, as well as his distinguished leadership roles.

The recognition took place alongside Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, at an event celebrating distinguished alumni of St. Gregory’s College. The award highlighted Disu’s contributions to frontline policing, criminal investigations, intelligence operations, peacekeeping, and senior command positions. Appointed as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police in February 2026, Disu was also commended for his emphasis on professionalism, intelligence-led policing, accountability, personnel welfare, community partnerships, and the strategic use of technology to enhance public safety.

Disu expressed gratitude to the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association, acknowledging the institution's significant role in his life's journey. The Nigeria Police Force affirmed its commitment to exemplary leadership, professionalism, and dedicated service, underscoring the importance of education, values, and mentorship in shaping future officers.
