Kurt Okraku has four clubs, what do you think he would do? – Nana Baffour Awuah fires back

Manhyia South MP Nana Baffour Awuah has responded to Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku's comments regarding the president's ownership of four clubs. Awuah questioned the potential conflict of interest arising from Okraku's business interests in football. "This is the first time we have an FA President who has four clubs, and these clubs, they’re business for him," Awuah stated.

"What do you think he would do?" The controversy originated from Awuah's call for reforms in Ghana football, which he alleged were being obstructed by a "cabal" within the GFA. In turn, Okraku criticized Awuah’s expertise on football administration, questioning Awuah's record of constructing sports pitches in his constituency. Awuah countered by noting that his constituency already has three AstroTurf pitches, and argued that the conversation should focus on the larger issues plaguing Ghanaian football.

He also highlighted concerns about player opportunities and selection for the national team, using the example of former Ghana international Philemon Baffour. Awuah noted the player's exclusion from the Black Stars despite being added to the team roster and questioned his current status. The ongoing debate over the future of Ghana football encompasses issues like player development, selection for the national team, infrastructure in grassroots football, and the administration of the domestic game.
