Kelantan fighters want a stage: Muay Thai stadium pitched as youth training hub, tourism magnet

Kota Bharu, September 27 — Muay Thai coach Mohamad Ridhwan Mat Zain is urging the Kelantan government to allocate funds in the 2027 Budget for the construction of a dedicated Muay Thai stadium. The facility would serve as a structured development pathway for fighters at various levels, enhance sports tourism potential, and provide comprehensive amenities for athletes.

Muay Thai coach Mohamad Ridhwan Mat Zain said hosting events in a dedicated stadium would be easier, as it would eliminate the need to set up and dismantle rings after each competition. A dedicated training hub with physiotherapy and full equipment is vital for athletes' preparation. Muay Thai athlete Fakhru Zaim Mohd Firdaus, 22, and Mohamad Danial Hakim Mohd Affandi, 22, both expressed their hope for the government to realize the dream of building the stadium, emphasizing that comprehensive training facilities are crucial for athletes' effective training and seamless tournament preparations.
