The burglary occurred at the residence of 29-year-old Madhumita and her husband Vinoth Kumar, who have a two-year-old daughter. The family was away shopping in Tirunelveli on September 24 and returned around midnight to find the front door locked and the back door broken open. The thieves made off with 118 sovereigns of gold jewellery, diamond ornaments, and cash worth ₹50,000.
Police have formed five special teams to investigate the case, examining CCTV footage and other evidence. Madhumita's social media posts, which garnered over 41,000 followers on YouTube, are also under scrutiny, as they may have inadvertently provided information that could have aided the burglars.
