Indiana Fever veteran guard out for season with injury. What it means for roster

Indiana Fever backup guard Tyasha Harris will miss the rest of the 2026 season due to a broken left fibula, the team confirmed on Saturday. The injury occurred when Harris landed awkwardly on her left ankle during a regular season finale against Minnesota on Thursday. She was immediately in pain as her foot appeared to roll up underneath her, and she had to be carried off the court by her teammates and coaches.

Harris, a Fishers native, signed with the Fever on a one-year deal for the 2026 season following a left knee injury that forced her out of most games in 2025. Despite this setback, Harris has become a valuable asset to the Fever's second unit, providing veteran presence and stepping up in various situations, such as scoring 16 points against Los Angeles in June and 15 points against Dallas in August while starting for an injured Caitlin Clark.

This is the second season-ending injury for the Fever this year, with Damiris Dantas also ruled out due to a meniscus injury in August. Indiana received a hardship exception for Dantas, subsequently signing Mercedes Russell. As the postseason begins Sunday, Harris' absence will grant rookie Raven Johnson, who has experienced varying minutes throughout the season, a larger role. The sixth-seeded Fever will face the third-seeded Aces in Las Vegas at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
