India criticises Pakistan’s ‘falsehoods’ and ‘deceit’ at UN; warns terrorism will have consequences

India has criticized Pakistan's "falsehoods" and "deceit" at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), warning that continued terrorism by Pakistan will have consequences. The criticism came after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif used the UN podium to credit U.S. President Donald Trump for his "timely intervention" in the 2025 conflict with India, and again raised the Kashmir issue in his address.

India's First Secretary in the Permanent Mission to the UN, Petal Gahlot, described Pakistan as a "regime of the army, by the army, and for the army," highlighting the 27th Constitutional Amendment that grants lifelong immunity to the Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff. Gahlot emphasized that Pakistan's terrorism, deceit, and duplicity will not benefit it or the world.

She also criticized Sharif's remarks for coming shortly after the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, pointing out that Osama bin Laden was living near Pakistan's premier military academy. Gahlot reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and will always remain so, urging the UNGA to focus on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, where protesters have been met with crackdowns and allegations of rigging in recent elections.

She warned that continued terrorism by Pakistan will have consequences and call into question the foundation of friendship and goodwill.
