I killed PDP, Wike still my good friend – Umahi

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, stated that he effectively ended the existence of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when he left the party and vowed to ensure its continued demise. During an inspection of the Abakaliki-Afikpo section of the Cross River-Ebonyi-Benue-Abuja Trans-Saharan Highway, Umahi also referred to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as his good friend and brother. However, he clarified that there is no Rainbow Coalition in Ebonyi State, where he originates from.

Umahi asserted that Wike is his good friend and brother, but there is no Rainbow Coalition in Ebonyi State. He further stated that if Wike has candidates in the state, he has not informed him, but Wike's candidates cannot breach their relationship. "I killed the PDP when I left PDP, whether they are alive again and if they are alive we have to unalive them because the PDP did not treat the people of the Southeast well," said Umahi.

The Minister expressed his party's support for the PDP, as they cast votes for PDP presidents. However, he lamented that when it was their time to reciprocate, the PDP failed to honor them, instead resorting to maltreatment. Umahi remains optimistic about the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates in Ebonyi State.

Regarding freedom of campaigning, Umahi stated that anyone wanting to campaign in Ebonyi is allowed. Nevertheless, he warned that anyone attempting to incite a crisis would be expelled from the state. He maintained that nobody can instigate unrest in Ebonyi State.
