Giants Make QB Move 1 Day Before Titans Game

The New York Giants have announced that Jameis Winston will start against the Tennessee Titans in Week 3 following quarterback Jaxson Dart's injury, which will sideline him for the remainder of the regular season. Winston's performance in relief of Dart during the Giants' 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams was subpar, going 11 of 27 for 111 yards and an interception.

New York hopes Winston will improve when playing at home against the Titans, as the team customizes his playbook to his strengths. Winston prefers to stay in the pocket, according to the report. On Saturday, the Giants signed Jake Haener from the practice squad to serve as Winston's backup against the Titans. Haener is set to take over as the second-string quarterback.

The Giants are also considering adding more quarterback talent this season, potentially signing veteran free agents like Jimmy Garoppolo or trading for a quarterback like J.J. McCarthy, who may thrive with a fresh start away from the Minnesota Vikings. Head coach John Harbaugh has expressed confidence in Winston's abilities as a strong passing quarterback, stating that the team will build their game plan around his skill set for the Titans matchup.

Winston, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has a 36-53 career record as a starter in the NFL and went 0-2 as the Giants' starter last season.
