Oak Harbor football team had been on an impressive 29-game winning streak at home since 2021 before facing Genoa in a crucial match. The stakes were high, as Genoa coach Bill Fisher explained, as the rivalry between the communities goes beyond football and holds significant importance. Jaxon Magnone, a senior at Genoa, was crucial in turning the game around for his team.

Magnone had three long catches that put Genoa in scoring range inside the 5-yard line. Receiver Tommy Braun emphasized that Magnone was a deep ball threat, and the team relied heavily on his abilities. Genoa took the lead early with a touchdown from Alex Materni and later extended their lead with a run by Braun.
