For the first time, railway line reaches Chhattisgarh’s Rowghat; train operations to start soon

The Indian Railways has recently extended its railway network to the remote Rowghat area in Chhattisgarh by completing the Taroki-Rowghat section of the Dallirajhara-Rowghat new line project. This 17.5-km electrified broad-gauge railway line, part of the 95-km-long Dallirajhara-Rowghat project, marks a significant step towards enhancing connectivity in the southern regions of Chhattisgarh.

The section underwent a Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) inspection and speed trial on September 22, where various aspects such as track, bridges, electrification, signalling, and safety arrangements were thoroughly examined. The operational capacity and safety standards of the new line were then tested during the prescribed inspection and speed trial.

Following the successful completion of the Taroki-Rowghat section, it is anticipated that train services will commence soon, providing locals with more convenient transport options for education, healthcare, employment, and trade. Bhilai, an important industrial and educational hub in the state, will benefit from this improved connectivity.

Moreover, the new rail link is expected to facilitate the transportation of agricultural products and local commercial goods, strengthening the region's link with the broader railway network.

The Dallirajhara-Rowghat railway line also plays a crucial role in supporting the iron ore transportation to the Bhilai Steel Plant, thus bolstering the steel industry. Furthermore, the enhanced rail network is anticipated to encourage tourism, investment, and other economic activities in the region, contributing to the development of the remote areas in south Chhattisgarh.
