Federal University Dutse expels 12 students, rusticates five

Federal University Dutse in Jigawa State has taken action against 12 students, expelling them and rusticating five others due to a range of misconducts. These offenses include criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, cult-related activities, drug abuse, cyberbullying, and sexual assault. The decision was made after reviewing the report from the 20th meeting of the Students' Disciplinary Committee, which was presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ahmad Mohammed Gumel.

Twelve students were expelled for various infractions, including criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, robbery, and cult-related activities. Six of those expelled were found guilty of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, while two others were charged with robbery and cult-related activities. Additionally, one student was expelled for phone theft, and two others received sanctions for drug abuse on campus.

Five students faced rustication after being sanctioned for attempted sexual assault and cyberbullying. Four of these students were rusticated for two semesters, while one student faced one semester of suspension. Off-campus offenses led to five students receiving warning letters, which encompassed cyberbullying, attempted sexual assault, and drug abuse.

The disciplinary measures were implemented following the thorough consideration of each case by the Students' Disciplinary Committee. The affected students come from various faculties and departments within the university.
