Eichner rues missing "that final push" while reflecting on his time at Karlsruhe

Christian Eichner's tenure at Karlsruhe SC ended this summer after more than six years, during which he served as a head coach since February 2020. Eichner, who had been an assistant coach at Karlsruhe SC since April 2017, reflected on his time in an interview with Transfermarkt.de. He mentioned missing the final push and structured routine that his years in the position brought.

Eichner took the opportunity to discuss his time at Karlsruhe, highlighting the time he spent with family and the big wins over traditional clubs that he enjoyed. He admitted that while they were competitive at times and accomplished an incredible amount over six and a half years, the team ultimately lacked that final push needed for promotion.

A major setback occurred in December 2025 when Eichner's assistant coach and confidant, Zlatan Bajramovic, was dismissed amid a six-game winless streak. Eichner described Bajramovic as 'my second wife' and recounted the emotional toll of losing him. Despite the challenges, Eichner still looks back on his time at Karlsruhe as extremely positive, praising the strong bond between the team and coaching staff.
