External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar addressed the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, urging stronger international cooperation to end conflicts, protect civilians, and restore stability. He emphasized that the UN was established to maintain global peace and security, but ongoing disputes continue to pose significant challenges. Jaishankar stressed that the consequences of war are felt far beyond the immediate region, often impacting countries that are not directly involved.

The Indian External Affairs Minister harshly criticized terrorism, describing it as an ongoing threat to international peace and security. He called for no compromise in the zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism, stating that governments indulging in terrorism must be held accountable. Jaishankar also stressed the importance of exposing and countering the financial networks that support terrorism.

Without naming a specific country, Jaishankar referred to a "serial practitioner of terrorism" who had misrepresented facts before the UN General Assembly to normalize terrorism and claim immunity. He asserted India's right to defend itself against terrorism and emphasized that friendship and goodwill cannot coexist with terrorism. Jaishankar warned that arrangements based on such relationships would be questioned.

Regarding the ongoing conflicts in the Gulf and Ukraine, Jaishankar expressed concern over the continuing hostilities. He called for restraint, de-escalation, and the protection of civilians, urging all parties to ensure the uninterrupted flow of energy and commerce. Regarding Ukraine, which he described as being in its fifth year, Jaishankar reiterated India's support for ongoing peace efforts.

He cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement that "endless war must give way now to an end to war," emphasizing the need to transition from conflict to peace.
