Dombivli MIDC Demolition Notice: 542 Industrial Units Face Action Over Alleged Additional Constructions In Common Areas

The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in Dombivli has issued demolition notices to 542 industrial units for alleged additional constructions in common areas. The units have been given a 24-hour deadline to remove the structures, or the MIDC will carry out the demolition. Industrialists fear that the sudden demolition could disrupt manufacturing activities, production schedules, and cause difficulties for workers.

The Kalyan-Ambernath Manufacturers’ Association (KAMA) strongly objects to the notices and has urged the MIDC to withdraw them immediately. KAMA president Narayan Mane highlighted the existing infrastructure issues, such as poor roads, waterlogging, limited space, and inadequate parking facilities, which make it challenging for industrial units to operate.

Mane emphasized that any immediate demolition action could exacerbate the difficulties faced by the industry. The association members urged the MIDC to reconsider its decision and hold discussions with the affected units and the industry association before proceeding with any coercive action. The association raised concerns over the 24-hour deadline, stating that industrial units need ample time to understand the notices, assess the structures, and take corrective measures.

Industrial representatives demanded a practical approach that addresses violations while considering the operational requirements of manufacturing units and the broader issue of employment. The notices have reignited discussions about the long-standing infrastructure problems in Dombivli MIDC, including inadequate road infrastructure, waterlogging, space constraints, and parking difficulties.
