Conner Weigman throws 4 TD passes, runs for 2 scores as No. 25 Houston beats Georgia Southern 42-28

In a thrilling matchup, No. 25 Houston defeated Georgia Southern 42-28 on Saturday at Statesboro, thanks to a stellar performance by quarterback Conner Weigman. Weigman notched four touchdown passes and ran for two more scores, guiding the Cougars to an impressive victory.

Coach Willie Fritz, making his return to Statesboro, led the Eagles from 2014-15. The Eagles stormed out to an early lead, scoring touchdowns on their first six possessions. Weigman's arm was on fire, connecting with four different receivers for big gains. Tight end Traville Frederick Jr., wide receivers Koby Young, Amare Thomas, and Trent Walker all caught touchdown passes from Weigman. The quarterback finished with 17 completions on 22 attempts for 239 yards.

Houston's total offensive output of 441 yards marked their fourth consecutive week of over 400 yards. Georgia Southern (1-3) mounted a valiant effort, overcoming a 14-0 deficit to tie the game at 14-all. Quarterback Max Johnson completed 26 of 38 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Ty Cummings added to the Eagles' comeback with a 2-yard rushing score after an onside kick gave them possession.
