The United States and China have reached an agreement during the meeting between US President Donald Trump and China's State and Party Chief Xi Jinping to reduce tariffs on $30 billion worth of goods traded between the countries. This information was shared by the state-run news agency Xinhua on Saturday afternoon in China. The specific products involved have not been disclosed yet.

US Trade Representative Jamie Jamieson Greer had already announced the deal on Friday in an interview with CNBC, mentioning US agricultural products, medical devices, and Chinese consumer goods as potential areas of negotiation. He also mentioned that further details might be released on Monday. According to Xinhua, the trade truce in the ongoing trade conflict has been extended and includes temporary tariff reductions, the export of rare earths, and the duration of the truce was not specified by the Chinese side.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had previously stated that the truce would be extended for two months as part of Xi's US trip launch. Multiple media reports suggest that China had hoped for a one-year or longer extension. In addition, the two countries also intend to establish a AI dialogue and a contingency channel for AI incidents to exchange risks and benefits.

The next AI dialogue is scheduled for November. Moreover, China and the US agreed that Iran should not develop nuclear weapons and that no state or organization should charge passage fees for international waterways. The two leaders also expressed their intention to attend the APEC summit in Shenzhen and the G20 summit in Florida.
