Carpenters To Get ₹2 Lakh Accident Insurance, Scholarships And Welfare Benefits Under New Action TESA Programme

Mumbai: Carpenters will soon be able to access a generous accident insurance policy of up to Rs 2 lakh, scholarships for top-performing students, and a host of welfare benefits through a new initiative called Action TESA. The program, launched on National Carpenters’ Day on September 24, aims to honor the vital role carpenters play in the furniture and interior industry.

Over 50 celebrations took place across India to announce the benefits, which include four key programs: family welfare, education, skill development, and protection against accidents.

Selected carpenters will receive full financial assistance for a three-month residential skill development course, covering all expenses such as food and accommodation, as part of the MSME-backed Super 30 initiative. Additionally, meritorious students from carpenter families will be eligible for a scholarship of Rs 11,000. Those participating in the program will also have access to Group Personal Accident Insurance covering up to Rs 2 lakh.

Another notable benefit is financial aid of up to Rs 50,000 to help cover the cost of daughters' wedding preparations in carpenter families, provided as a furniture package. This assistance will be distributed through the Action TESA Connect app. This year's theme for National Carpenters’ Day, 'Sang Sang Chalen, Aage Badhen', emphasizes the collective progress achievable when working together.

Ajay Aggarwal, Managing Director of Action TESA, highlighted that carpenters have long been essential to the furniture and interior sector and hoped this initiative would support their aspirations and those of their families.
