Bobby Banson condemns EOCO’s attempted arrest of Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah

Bobby Banson, a lawyer and lecturer at the Ghana School of Law, has warned that Ghana risks gaining a reputation as a drug-trafficking hub if recent drug-related concerns are not addressed urgently. His comments come in response to recent drug busts and calls for stronger measures to combat narcotics trafficking. Banson described the situation as a "national embarrassment", citing France's concerns about its level of trust in Ghana regarding information-sharing.

He warned that sustained concerns over narcotics trafficking could affect how Ghanaian travellers are treated at international airports, potentially resulting in more stringent security checks similar to those faced by passengers from other African countries. Banson urged political actors to avoid turning the narcotics issue into a partisan contest, emphasizing that the consequences of Ghana's international reputation would be borne by citizens regardless of their political affiliations.
