BMG gets majority support in KCCI elections

Several trade associations and small traders declared their backing for the Businessmen Group (BMG) as they prepared to contest the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) elections on September 26. The All Pakistan Organisation of Small Traders and Cottage Industries, Karachi chapter, President Mehmood Hamid pledged the group’s entire support, stating that the upcoming election would result in BMG's success.

Hamid noted that BMG, established by its former leader Siraj Qasim Teli, had always championed small traders. He recounted the Bolton Market fire, in which 19 markets were destroyed, and highlighted that Teli had secured Rs3.5 billion in government aid for affected shopkeepers, ensuring transparent distribution to facilitate market recovery.

He also mentioned the Gul Plaza tragedy, praising BMG's current leader Zubair Motiwala for continuing Teli’s tradition of supporting small traders. The small traders' support for BMG was reaffirmed by senior figures within the All Pakistan Organisation of Small Traders and Cottage Industries and the Small Traders Association. KCCI Vice President Javed Bilwani, Junaid Makda, and Idrees Memon voiced gratitude for the unwavering backing from small traders.

Prominent trade organization leaders, including the Pakistan Confectionery Association's Javed Abdullah, the Printing Press Association's Usman Sheikh, the Tajiran Babar Market Landhi's Muhammad Yaseen, Panorama Centre Saddar's Asif Qaim Khani, Saddar Sports Market's Saleem Malik, Water Pump Traders' Arif Ismail, and Liaquatabad Grocery Association's Ansar Baig Qadri, also voiced their allegiance to BMG.
