Bisiwu opens up on summer move to Barcelona from Club Brugge: ‘It was not an easy decision’

Jesse Bisiwu moved from Club Brugge to FC Barcelona this summer, expressing that it was not an easy decision. The 18-year-old Belgian winger joined the Catalan club for €8.5 million plus add-ons. Although he currently plays with the reserve team, Bisiwu is regularly training with the first-team squad under coach Hansi Flick.

During an interview with Starsporttv, Bisiwu shared his experience with Barcelona's Barça Atletic, stating that there is a lot of talent there, though the physical intensity is slightly less demanding compared to Belgium. He particularly appreciated how the Catalan club emphasizes playing with the ball.

Bisiwu admitted that he understood his patience would be required to break into the first team. Before making his choice, he consulted with Hansi Flick, who outlined a development plan he believed in. Club Brugge also presented an attractive offer, but ultimately, Bisiwu chose Barcelona as he believed it provided the best environment for his growth.

For now, Bisiwu continues to train with the first team while playing for Barça Atletic. The presence of young talents like Gordon, Adeyemi, and Lamine Yamal restricts his opportunities to play regularly with the senior side, but he has already displayed glimpses of his potential during pre-season.
