‘Best day of my life’: UK man surprises ‘shark-lover’ girlfriend with an underwater proposal

A British couple, James Walsh and Paige Cook, experienced an extraordinary engagement on September 10 at the Skegness Aquarium in Lincolnshire. Walsh, from Wendover, had always dreamed of proposing to Cook, a self-proclaimed shark enthusiast, and decided the aquarium would provide the perfect backdrop for his surprise. The couple participated in a shark-diving experience, and Walsh contacted the aquarium to arrange a special moment for their proposal.

Upon the designated time, Walsh and Cook were temporarily separated from the rest of the group so Walsh could execute his plan without revealing the surprise. Wearing scuba gear, the couple knelt underwater, with Walsh holding up a sign that read, "Will you marry me?" Cook, visibly surprised, responded with an "OK" gesture, signaling her affirmative answer before the couple embraced underwater.

Skegness Aquarium shared the happy news on their social media, tagging the newly engaged couple and expressing their excitement. Paige Cook described the day as "the best day of my life," stating that she had always wanted to scuba dive and swim with sharks, and the proposal only added to the unforgettable experience. Jamie Elvidge, a representative from the aquarium, praised the unique and adrenaline-fueled atmosphere, emphasizing how Walsh's proposal added an extra layer of excitement to the already thrilling activity.
