B.C. Lions climb CFL standings with 31-24 win over Saskatchewan Roughriders

VANCOUVER - Quarterback Nathan Rourke achieved a milestone by completing 375 yards during the B.C. Lions' 31-24 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday. The American-born quarterback connected on 22 of his 28 passes, tallying four touchdowns. The win propelled the Lions (8-6) to second place in the CFL’s West Division, claiming the three-game season series between the two teams 2-1.

It could serve as a tiebreaker if both teams end the season with identical records. Keon Hatcher Sr. threw two touchdown passes, while Jevon Cottoy and Jermaine Jackson also scored. Sean Whyte kicked three field goals, including the crucial 14-yard one with just over two minutes left in the third quarter. The Riders (8-6) received some reinforcements on Friday, with running back A.J.

Ouellette returning from a seven-game knee injury and contributing 77 rushing yards and a touchdown. Trevor Harris matched Trevor Harris with 302 passing yards, including a touchdown to Dylan Djete. Kicker Dawson Hodge chipped in with three field goals, including a 32-yarder. The Riders initially took the lead after Harris orchestrated a 31-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Djete.

However, Rourke's five crucial passes shifted the momentum, leading to a 17-13 lead for the Lions. The Riders managed to get closer in the fourth quarter, but ultimately fell short by a single point.
