All Punjab Districts to Get New CT Scan Machines

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the installation of a new CT scan machine in every district of the province to enhance public healthcare services. This directive was discussed during a video conference, where the progress of various healthcare initiatives, hospital staffing, and digital monitoring across Punjab were reviewed.

The CM also directed the establishment of telemedicine centers for seasonal and common diseases, which will enable patients to consult doctors through video calls, with referrals to relevant hospitals if necessary. Additionally, 300 rural health centers will be upgraded to fully-fledged hospitals, and 40,000 doctors and allied health professionals are to be recruited across the province.

The CM also introduced digital medical boxes for Clinics on Wheels, allowing for ultrasound, blood sugar, complete blood count, and ECG tests to be conducted in a single setup. Furthermore, a monthly "Hospital of the Month" award will be instituted to recognize hospitals with outstanding performance, and the replacement of medical superintendents at four underperforming hospitals has been ordered.

To ensure cleanliness and parking, CM Maryam Nawaz also called for enhanced facilities at district and tehsil headquarters hospitals. A Directorate of Monitoring and Surveillance has been established for digital monitoring of hospitals round the clock, covering various healthcare facilities. The meeting also discussed linking private clinics with the Health Information Management System (HIMS) and appointing Clinic Quality Control Officers to evaluate the quality of treatment provided to patients.
