All 7 baby rabbits abandoned at Seletar roadside die despite rescue efforts

All seven baby rabbits rescued from a roadside in Seletar have passed away despite rescue efforts, according to animal welfare group Voices For Animals (VFA). The seven kits were among 23 rabbits that were rescued on Sep. 18 and taken in by VFA. The remaining 16 adult rabbits appear to be in stable condition, with one female giving birth to three kits during a veterinary examination.

Tragically, two of the newborn kits were found to have no heartbeat, and resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. The last surviving newborn kit is being closely monitored as of Sep. 26. The rabbits were discovered abandoned on Sep. 18 by an eyewitness in the Seletar area, who later saw a vehicle leave, offering the rabbits to the eyewitness.

Upon medical assessment by AVS, VFA, and veterinarians from The Animal Doctors, the rabbits were found to have health issues such as overgrown nails, skin conditions, and wounds. VFA president Derrick Tan expressed deep concern over the challenges faced during the rescue and care of the kits, stating that their wet, cold, and critical condition upon arrival made their situation extremely vulnerable.
