ActionSA puts crime fighting at centre of election campaign

ActionSA, a South African political party, has made crime fighting and law enforcement a central focus in its local government election campaign ahead of the 4 November Local Government Elections. In a launch event for its manifesto, party leader Herman Mashaba vowed to tackle crime, urban decay, and illegal activities in municipalities across the country.

Mashaba pledged to increase the presence of law enforcement officers in the streets, providing them with proper training, equipment, and deployment in areas most in need. The party aims to take back public spaces from criminals, gangs, and those who believe they can operate outside the law. They also plan to target illegal connections, hijacked buildings, infrastructure theft, and criminal syndicates that profit from these activities.

In addition to addressing criminal activities, ActionSA will work closely with the Department of Home Affairs and the South African Police Service to tackle illegal immigration. The party believes that restoring law and order, protecting municipal assets, and improving service delivery are vital for rebuilding public confidence in local government.

Mashaba warned that where ActionSA governs, people should expect a crackdown on corruption, crime, and lawlessness. He urged those stealing from residents and criminal syndicates to "start running now." ActionSA aims to strengthen municipal courts to ensure that bylaws are enforced, and cases do not simply disappear. The party emphasizes that residents should not have to live in a society where crime, disorder, and lawlessness are considered normal.
