After the NFL fined Kyle Juszczyk $14,926 for a touchdown celebration deemed an imitation of chugging a beer, 49ers tight end George Kittle made headlines by announcing a new nickname for his teammate. During a Thursday press conference, Kittle declared that Juszczyk’s new moniker would be "Beer." The team had already made the change, according to Kittle, as they had all voted on it.

The ruling came as a surprise to Juszczyk, who had been performing his celebratory gesture for over a decade in response to 49ers fans chanting his nickname, "Juice." Juszczyk expressed confusion, stating that he didn't drink beer and only has a few drinks a year in the offseason. He even went as far as placing a "NOT BEER" sign on his locker shelf and posting a photo of himself drinking a beer in the water on social media, alluding to the fine.

Juszczyk has appealed the fine and has a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, marking the first fine of his career. Despite this incident, Juszczyk remains the 49ers' Art Rooney Award nominee for sportsmanship for the past six seasons.
