48-hour Ganesh immersion procession concludes in Hyderabad

On September 26, 2026, the Ganesh idol immersion continued in Hyderabad, with a significant backlog of idols still awaiting their final rites at Hussain Sagar. The procession routes leading to the immersion sites were heavily congested, causing traffic jams on major roads. Trucks carrying the idols, along with a large number of devotees and vehicles, contributed to the gridlock, particularly around areas like Mozamjahi Market, Shalibanda, Afzalgunj, Lakdikapul, Himayatnagar, and Tank Bund.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar issued a statement through a video message on X, announcing that traffic restrictions would remain in place throughout the day on major procession routes. Sajjanar advised motorists to avoid these routes unless it was an emergency and recommended postponing journeys or taking alternative roads due to the ongoing immersion processions.
