Wisconsin's Abu Sama, Malachi Coleman upgraded for Big Ten opener at Penn State

MADISON – Wisconsin’s updated availability report for their Big Ten opener against Penn State on September 26 was released on September 24. Good news came from the report as running back Abu Sama and receiver Malachi Coleman were upgraded from questionable to probable for the game set to kick off at 4 p.m. at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pennsylvania.

Both players had missed Wisconsin’s game against Eastern Michigan the previous weekend. Sama had been dealing with a shoulder issue, but expressed confidence in his ability to play. Coleman, on the other hand, had been out since suffering a head injury during a game against Western Illinois on September 12. No other changes were made to the Badgers’ report.

For Penn State, linebacker Cam Smith and cornerback Christian Askew were both downgraded from questionable to out. The Nittany Lions’ star receiver, Koby Howard, would also miss the game due to an undisclosed injury. In Wisconsin’s report, cornerback Cai Bates, receiver Jaylon Domingeaux, offensive lineman Michael Roeske, and defensive tackle Xavier Ukponu were listed as out. Running back Bryan Jackson, right guard Emerson Mandell, and tight end Ryan Schwendeman were marked as questionable.
