U2 reflect on 'extraordinary' Mount Temple return

U2 have reminisced about their remarkable return to Mount Temple Comprehensive School, 50 years after the band first came together. Adam Clayton recalled feeling lost and vulnerable as a teenager, but he was thrilled to see that 50 years later he felt much better. The Edge described the experience as extraordinary and very moving, noting that the sound was better and he was more in tune.

Bono joked about whether the current generation of students would appreciate the band, but emphasized that it was free. The gig took place exactly 50 years after the musicians who would form U2 gathered at Larry Mullen Jr's family home in Artane on September 25, 1976. Mullen recalled writing a notice on a board at the school looking for musicians and being amazed to see U2's future members turn up.

He said performing for the current students was amazing and they shared something special. The band expressed pride in being Irish and the importance of education, reflecting on how music changed their lives and the opportunity for others to have the same experience. U2 also performed their new single Silencio for the first time during the gig, with Bono stating it sounded good and was going down well.
