Two Perak tahfiz students, 13 and 14, charged over alleged iron attack on classmate

KUALA LUMPUR, September 25 — Two students, aged 13 and 14, have been charged with allegedly injuring a fellow 13-year-old student at a tahfiz school in Perak Tengah using an iron. According to Utusan Malaysia, both accused students appeared in Magistrate Nurul Izalina Rajaai's court in Parit and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The incident allegedly took place at Chopin Kanan, Parit, on September 19, around 4pm. The victim required medical attention for second-degree burns to his chest, which were treated at a private clinic. The students were arrested following a police report submitted by a doctor at the clinic. If convicted, the crime could result in a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine, or whipping, or any combination of these punishments.

Deputy public prosecutor R. Jayasri defended the prosecution, while both students were represented by lawyer Nur Nadrah Badarudin from the National Legal Aid Foundation. Bail was set at RM500 for each student, and the next court appearance was scheduled for October 27.
