Trump urges Xi to halt Chinese assistance to Iran

President Donald Trump urged Chinese President Xi Jinping to cease any assistance to Iran during their meeting at the White House. Ambassador David Perdue of the United States disclosed the issue, emphasizing Washington's stance that any support Beijing provides to Tehran is unacceptable. Perdue stated that Trump effectively communicated this message to China, and Beijing has reportedly taken action to cease the assistance.

Perdue told Fox News that they have observed movement on this matter, to which President Trump affirms, "We’ve seen movement on that already." The Chinese leader visited the White House on Friday for a second time and toured the National Archives during the conclusion of his three-day conference. Both leaders expressed mutual admiration during their interaction over tea in the White House Red Room.

Trump declared, "America is very happy about this visit. I’m sure China is very happy also." Xi commented on the state of China-U.S. relations, describing them as "strategic stability," and expressed anticipation for future meetings at the APEC summit in China and the G20 summit in Miami. Notably, Xi's visit overlapped with the ongoing 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, though he did not participate in the global leaders' gathering.
