Tegan and Sara Return with New Single “Our Year”: Stream

Tegan and Sara have released their new single "Our Year" alongside Lights. The track is the duo's first new music since their 2022 album Crybaby. The music video, directed by Kyle S. Lee, marks a collaboration between the Canadian artists. Tegan initially shared a demo of the song with Cartal, who went on to produce the track before inviting Lights to join in.

Tegan expressed her delight at having Lights on the track, stating it was clear they had something special when she came on board. The song, described as an ode to Vancouver and a tongue-in-cheek response to its cost of living, offers an optimistic outlook on new beginnings while acknowledging the challenges that may arise. Lights sees it as a way to vent about the economy without losing sight of the hope for improvement.

Tegan emphasized the importance of grounding and purposefulness in their releases, while also highlighting the fun aspect of creating music together. This return to music follows Tegan's release of her debut middle-grade novel, Merry Christmess, earlier this month, which launched the Clementine Twins series. The novel tells the story of twin sisters trying to reunite their parents for Christmas.

After this, Tegan and Sara will join Hilary Duff on her "The Lucky Me Tour" next year, with nine dates scheduled across the United States.
