Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid receives condolences over death of Sheikh Ahmed in call with Saudi Crown Prince

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, received an expression of condolences regarding the passing of his brother, Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid, via a phone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Thursday. Prince Mohammed conveyed his deepest sympathies to Sheikh Mohammed and his family, urging them to find strength and comfort in these trying times, as reported by state media outlet Wam.

Sheikh Mohammed acknowledged the Saudi Crown Prince's gesture of support. Following Sheikh Ahmed's demise, a ten-day mourning period was declared in Dubai on Monday, with tributes being paid by leaders from various Gulf nations and beyond. Sheikh Mohammed officiated the funeral prayer for his sibling at Zabeel Grand Mosque on Tuesday, accompanied by his sons, Sheikh Hamdan, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum, Minister of Finance.

Sheikh Ahmed served as the deputy chairman of Dubai Police and the group chairman of ARM Holding, a prominent UAE private investment entity. Additionally, he was a passionate advocate for sports in the United Arab Emirates, having established the Jebel Ali Racecourse in 1990 and guiding the Al Wasl Sports Club to considerable success over several decades as its president.
