Poor government schools, rising private fees burden Telangana families: TPF

According to Telangana People’s Front member MV Reddy, the poor quality of government schools and the increasing cost of private education are placing a growing burden on families in the state of Telangana. Reddy stated that despite successive governments trying to address the issue, the condition of government schools continues to be a major concern.

He emphasized that despite education being vital for improving people's lives, the majority of poor individuals are being burdened by the high fees charged by private schools, which lack adequate facilities. At a round-table discussion during TPF's 12-day Vidya Bus Yatra in Vikarabad, Reddy and other team members highlighted the need for measures to strengthen public education and regulate the rising costs of private education.

School and junior college students participated in the event and expressed their concerns over the inadequate facilities. One school with around 400 girls was reported to have only two toilets. The TPF team visited ZP High School for Girls in Dharur village, where they found several abandoned buildings, no secure gate or boundary wall, and poor sanitation, with pigs, stray dogs, and monkeys roaming around the campus.

TPF leaders stressed that sustained public demand is necessary to push governments towards addressing the needs of the public education system.
