Police finally identify officer who said Igbo man can never be president

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended an officer who made a controversial remark in a viral video, stating that no Igbo man can ever hold the position of Nigerian President. SP Abimbola Adebisi, the spokesperson for the command, identified the officer as Osumah Frank. The officer filmed himself expressing the sentiment that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and any Igbo individual are ineligible for the Nigerian presidency.

Upon learning of the remarks, the police spokesperson announced that the force has initiated appropriate disciplinary measures against the officer in accordance with the Nigeria Police Force regulations. The officer's comments were stated to be made in his personal capacity and not representing the official stance or views of the Lagos State Police Command or the entire Nigeria Police Force.

Furthermore, Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism, civility, discipline, and respect for members of the public while wearing the police uniform. He reiterated that any conduct endangering the force's reputation or public trust would not be tolerated.
